Accelerated Reader
Every Pershing student participates in the Accelerated Reader (AR) program. In this program, students are required to earn a certain number of AR points (predetermined by the reading or English teacher). Points are earned when you read an AR book, then take and pass the computerized test for that book. AR points count towards your class average and can be redeemed for prizes in the AR store.
Drop Everything And Read (DEAR)
In addition to AR, students also participate in DEAR. During DEAR, all students on campus will have designated time for uninterrupted reading. Students are encouraged to use this time to read AR books.
Tutorials
All teachers offer additional help either before or after school. If your grades show minimum mastery or below, it is recommended that you attend your teacher’s tutorials. It is your responsibility to find out when those tutorials are offered and to make arrangements to attend.
