Buses

Bus transportation is provided for students who live more than two miles from school. At the beginning of the school year, Pershing will post copies of bus routes outside the main office; It is the parent’s and student’s responsibility to know the route number, pick-up point, time schedule, and terminal phone number. All of this information is listed on the bus card issued by Pershing at the beginning of school. Bus cards are to be with the student at all times.

Bus routes are not scheduled by school staff. This is done by the HISD Transportation Department which can be reached at 713-676-9218 if there are questions or concerns. Schedule changes during the year are posted across from the Cafeteria. See the Magnet Coordinator for rider eligibility information.

Buses drop off and pick up students each morning and afternoon at the front entrance to the school on Braes Blvd. Students should report promptly to the bus loading area as soon as school is dismissed to avoid missing their bus.

Students are expected to exhibit the same good behavior on the school bus as they do at school. Schoolwide disciplinary rules and consequences apply to all bus riders. HISD and Pershing Middle School are committed to the safety of all students. Therefore, students are expected to be courteous to the driver and fellow riders, to take a seat immediately and to remain seated, to not put their arms out of the windows, to not throw things from the bus, to not distract the driver, and to ride only their assigned bus. Students who fail to follow these rules will be suspended from the bus; repeat offenders may lose all rider privileges.
