Pershing Ready for It's 80th Year!

Welcome to Pershing Middle School!  This year we will celebrate our 80th year in education.  We welcome you to browse our web page and discover why Pershing is one of the premier middle schools in the Houston Independent School District. 

Pershing serves over 1750 sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students.  We are a diverse student body located near the medical center in Houston.  We offer a rigorous curriculum, geared to provide our students a successful transition to high school.

Pershing is a fine arts magnet for HISD, as well as a Vanguard neighborhood school with GT services.  We offer students opportunities to participate in art, drama, orchestra, band, dance, gymnastics, guitar, and vocal performance.

At Pershing, we utilize research-based, best practices as outlined in Turning Points 2000.  Our students are on a rotating A / B block schedule Monday through Thursday, then visit all eight periods on Fridays.  Furthermore, our students attend a daily advocacy class, with a focus on character education and service learning projects.

Pershing also enjoys a rich relationship with our parents and community.  A partnership with the YMCA provides before and after school learning opportunities for our students.  Our Parent Teacher Organization assists us in bridging the path between our parents and our staff.  We value our parent and community partnerships.
